SONOFF POW Ring Smart Energy Meter | POWCT 100A
SONOFF POW Ring (POWCT) is a smart energy consumption meter with a non-invasive current transformer enabling current measurements up to 100A. It allows for bidirectional power monitoring and control of external devices, making it an ideal tool for optimizing photovoltaic installations and expanding smart home systems.
Key features:
- Non-invasive current transformer allowing for safe current measurement up to 100A without integrating into the wires.
- Bidirectional energy measurement allowing for tracking the amount of electricity consumed and fed back into the grid.
- Built-in dry contact relay facilitating the control of external loads via contactors.
- Saving measurement history with hourly breakdown up to 6 months back with data export option.
- Wide integration possibilities: Home Assistant, iHost, Apple Home (via Matter Bridge), and IFTTT.
Bidirectional energy measurement for photovoltaics
SONOFF POWCT fully supports bidirectional current measurement, which is extremely important for users of photovoltaic systems. This allows for precise checking of how much energy we have fed back and how much we have drawn from the power grid.
- Production measurement: Placing the measuring transformer between the inverter and the electrical installation allows for accurate measurement of how much energy the PV installation has produced.
- Grid balance: Placing the transformer at the output of the home electrical installation enables verification of the amount of energy fed into the grid and drawn from it.

Correct installation and connection diagram
The design of the transformer (Split Core) means that its installation is performed using a non-invasive snap-on method. It is absolutely essential to remember that the measuring transformer should only be placed on one single phase wire (L), and not on the entire multi-core cable. Placing the transformer on the main cable containing both the phase and neutral wires (L and N) simultaneously will cause the magnetic fields to cancel each other out, resulting in the meter indicating a value of 0A.

Built-in dry contact relay and load control
The device has an integrated dry contact relay, the contacts of which can be used to control a contactor or a dedicated high-power relay. This allows for creating automation – e.g., upon detecting a sufficient surplus of power production from solar panels, the system will switch on a water heater or another large load. Important note: The built-in relay has a maximum load capacity of 2A, therefore it cannot directly control heaters or other high-power devices – it always requires the use of an additional contactor.
Data history and flexible Smart Home ecosystem
The application allows for convenient viewing of measurement history with an hourly breakdown up to 6 months back, with the possibility of exporting report files. The controller itself can be easily integrated with many popular platforms. You can easily add the device to the system Home Assistant, it also works with the environment iHost, Apple Home (via Matter Bridge) and IFTTT (in the paid plan).
