SONOFF SenseGuard DW Gen2 Zigbee Door and Window Sensor | SNZB-04PR2
SONOFF SenseGuard DW Gen2 (SNZB-04PR2) is a smart door and window sensor communicating via the Zigbee 3.0 wireless protocol. Equipped with a tamper detection function and an extremely flexible mounting system, it is an excellent component for home security and automation systems. Powering with two standard AAA batteries ensures up to 3 years of maintenance-free operation, and compatibility with popular ecosystems (including Home Assistant, Google Home, and Apple Home via Matter) opens up vast possibilities for creating smart scenes. The device requires a Zigbee 3.0 gateway for proper operation.
Key features:
- Communication protocol: Zigbee 3.0 (IEEE 802.15.4).
- Tamper Alarm: notifications in case of disassembly attempts.
- Power supply: convenient power via 2x AAA battery, guaranteeing up to 3 years of operation.
- Universal mounting: possibility to position the magnet vertically (range up to 15 mm) or horizontally (range up to 30 mm).
- Compact design: only 45,1 g in weight and a minimalist look that allows the device to blend discreetly into the decor.
- Ecosystem compatibility: integration with Home Assistant, Apple Home (via Matter Bridge), Amazon Alexa, and Google Assistant.
Compact design and flexible mounting

Thanks to its thoughtful and slim design, the device takes up an absolute minimum of space without affecting the functionality of doors or windows. The construction makes it easy to fit the sensor even in extremely tight spaces. The magnetic element can be mounted independently both vertically and horizontally, making it perfect for uneven structures and wide gaps (detection tolerance up to 30 mm in horizontal position and up to 15 mm in vertical position).
Active protection and tamper alarms
The built-in tamper detector is a powerful security tool. If an attempt to forcibly remove the sensor or damage it is detected, a notification is immediately sent to your smartphone via the app. This alert can be linked to additional actions in your smart home – for example, automatically triggering a loud alarm siren or turning on emergency lighting.

Automation and energy saving
The sensor works perfectly with air conditioning or heating systems. Create a scene where leaving a window open for a specific amount of time automatically turns off the air conditioner or furnace, protecting against unnecessary energy loss. SenseGuard DW Gen2 is also great for securing medicine cabinets, drawers with valuable items, or home safes.

Integration with voice assistants and ecosystems
The sensor offers the ability to check the current status of doors or windows (open/closed) using voice commands thanks to compatibility with Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant (requires assigning the device to the eWeLink app and cloud synchronization with external platforms). Additionally, using technology Matter Bridge with the support of SONOFF solutions, you will seamlessly integrate this product into your ecosystem Apple Home.
Compatibility with Home Assistant
The device integrates without any problems with open-source systems such as Home Assistant, using USB coordinators from the SONOFF family (e.g., SONOFF Zigbee Dongle). Cooperation is implemented through popular Z2M (Zigbee2MQTT) or ZHA add-ons. Additionally, the sensor is compatible with most standard Zigbee gateways available on the market.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
- How to install the sensor? Installation is quick and takes place in three steps: (1) Stick the included double-sided 3M tape to the sensor and magnet. (2) Align the guide markers on both elements. (3) Attach to the door frame and door leaf. The magnet can be attached horizontally or vertically, and if there is no space, its main housing can be removed.
- How does status detection work? The device constantly measures the distance between the main sensor and the magnet. Physical separation or approach immediately changes the status to "open" or "closed".
- Will I receive notifications about door opening? Of course. Simply activate the Push Notification option in the device settings directly in the dedicated app.
- What is the tamper-proof alarm? The detector has a hardware safety switch. An attempt to tear the device off the frame will immediately trigger an alarm in the app and can launch actions programmed in your ecosystem (e.g., an audible signal from the gateway).
- What batteries does the sensor require? The design is based on 2 standard AAA batteries. Thanks to energy optimization, they last for up to approx. 3 years of operation.
- How to add the sensor to the Home Assistant environment (ZHA/Z2M)? You need a compatible Zigbee coordinator (e.g., SONOFF Dongle). Details of support for individual scripts (especially in ZHA) can be found in the official documentation (Wiki).
