Sonoff MINI-ZBD - Zigbee Dry Contact Relay 3.0
Sonoff MINI-ZBD is a versatile, smart dry contact switch operating on the Zigbee 3.0 standard, designed for advanced automation. The device can be powered by both mains voltage 110–240V AC and safe 12–48V DC, allowing for easy installation in classic distribution boards, solar systems, or gate drives. Thanks to the use of a dry contact relay (NO/NC support), the module is perfect for non-invasive, remote control of garage doors, boilers, or alarm systems, and the built-in router function improves mesh network coverage.
Key features
- Flexible power supply: support for 110–240V AC or 12–48V DC in one device, without external power adapters.
- Dry contact relay (dry contact): support for NO and NC modes allows for safe control of gates or boilers.
- DC device control: direct support for DC motors (up to 8W) and solenoid valves with minimal latency.
- Functioning as a Zigbee router Zigbee 3.0: strengthens the signal and extends the mesh network range, reducing dead zones.
- Contactor compatibility: integration capability for controlling high-power loads, such as air conditioners or large pumps.
System requirements
For the module to work correctly, a gateway (hub) operating on the Zigbee 3.0 standard is required. The relay is fully compatible with the Sonoff ecosystem and the eWeLink app. A recommended gateway is, for example, Sonoff ZB Bridge-P.
Better signal, wider range
MINI-ZBD with Turbo mode effectively strengthens the Zigbee signal. This extends the range of the entire home network and ensures a stable, reliable connection for other devices in the smart home ecosystem.

Remote garage door control via app
Control your garage door or entrance gate from anywhere using your smartphone. MINI-ZBD allows for status monitoring, enabling automatic access, and configuring advanced schedules, ensuring maximum convenience. Note: the controller itself does not have an input for a gate opening sensor.

Independent control for valves and DC motors
The device has been specifically designed to control low-current solenoid valves and small DC motors (with power up to 8W). It is ideal for custom irrigation systems or precise building automation.
Connection method
The relay can be connected in many ways, depending on your needs and the supply voltage used. Below are example connection diagrams for home installations.

FAQ - Frequently Asked Questions
- 1. What is Sonoff MINI-ZBD?
MINI-ZBD is a smart Zigbee dry contact switch, designed for, among other things, controlling motors, garage doors, and other devices activated by shorting two contacts (e.g., gate drives with step-by-step inputs). It supports remote management, voice assistants, and automation via dedicated apps. - 2. Does the MINI-ZBD controller require a Zigbee gateway to work?
Yes. The module does not connect directly to Wi-Fi. For operation and proper configuration, a gateway (hub) communicating in the Zigbee 3.0 standard is necessary, for example Sonoff ZB Bridge-P. - 3. How is the MINI-ZBD controller powered?
The device supports AC power (AC 100-240V) or DC power (DC 12-48V). Note: For safety reasons, do not connect AC and DC power sources simultaneously. - 4. What can I connect to the MINI-ZBD controller?
The controller works perfectly with devices equipped with dry contact inputs (e.g., gate controllers, boilers started by TA / T-AMP signal, NO/NC contacts). It can also control low-current DC devices, including small DC motors or solenoid valves (max. load is 8W).
